Acerca de la Revista
The Journal of Role-Playing Studies and STEAM (JRPSSTEAM) is meant to create a new space for the academic discussion of frontier research in the emerging field of Role-Playing Studies, bringing together diverse disciplines, areas and backgrounds, and fostering processes that bridge the gap between academia, game design, and the practical experience of both Spanish and English speaking role-playing game communities. The JRPSSTEM joins forces with the Network of Role-Playing Games Researchers (RIJR by its Spanish initials), a non-profit academic organization founded in 2018 that gathers researchers from Mexico, Ibero-America, and the United States for the study of RPG. The RIJR strives to foster the development of RPG studies, which led to the need to capture the results of the various researches in a peer-reviewed publication. In a diverse, pluricultural world, Role Playing Games cannot be conceived without thinking of socio-cultural diversities and the presence of women. This is why JRPSSTEAM constitutes itself as a publication with intersectional approaches and gender perspective. Although the JRPSSTEAM is open to any contribution over the wide range of Role-Playing studies, it has a particular focus on applications, original ideas, methodologies, and synergies of RPGs as innovative educational tools for learning and studying STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) topics, answering the fast-paced convergence between Role-Playing Games, education and STEAM in recent times.
